color by numbers
ok, i'm just getting into this stuff, but i know enough to say, "this is cool." and, "hey... i've heard of vector graphics!"
yeah, it's on the adobe website, so of course it's going to try to sell you something. (in this case, it's illustrator cs2).
they pretty much tell you, "this guy is really good. good luck getting your designs to do this." and that's supposed to sell you on their product.
but i really like the last part of it where they talk about the printers freaking out b/c they have a hard time figuring out all the layers and vectors.
and i especially like the "controversy" about how no one really knows who the technical artist is here.
what do you think? who is the one creating; the man behind the curtain, or the computer outputting all the shapes and colors?

this kind of stuff insults me when people say that i am not an 'artist' because i primarily use a computer as my medium.
so i definetly think that the computer it just the medium and that there is STILL and artist behind the piece.
why is it that when illustrators and graphic designers had to work by hand people called it art - but now that we can use a computer - still creating the same thigns - they say we;re not.
i think people dont understand that this isnt microsoft publisher. we dont just open the program type in some text, add some clipart and call it art. most artists, the good ones i think, actually sketch out what they want to do first. they think about it, dream about it, and dont just turn on the computer and start clicking.
and try picking a color scheme that isnt in the defaults in powerpoint. all those details that go into creating a piece - yes, illustrators and designers are artists too.
